28 scrub typhus infected in two weeks in Chitwan
Ratnagar (Chitwan) - At least 28 people have been infected with scrub typhus in a span of two weeks in Chitwan, according to the District Public Health Office (DPHO).
With this, the number of the infected has reached 182 so far in the current fiscal year, it added. Two have died of the mite-borne disease caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi. Symptoms are fever, macular rash, primary lesion and lymphadenopathy.
The disease has been detected in more than 32 districts, and it can be cured if treated on time, said Dr Guna Nidhi Sharma.
