Ward member smeared in black soot as part of 'people's action'
Nuwakot - Nepal Communist Party cadres last night mistreated Uadav Bahadur Thapa, an elected member of Shivapuri rural municipality ward no 4.
Thapa – an elected member in Sikre ward from Nepali Congress ticket – was smeared in black soot for alleged dereliction of duty and misuse of the power delegated to him.
Thapa was subjected to what the NCP termed in a statement signed by District Secretary, Sagar Timalsina, as 'people's action'.
Former head constable with Nepal Police, Thapa, was at his home when the NCP cadres arrived and mistreated him for not heeding their earlier warnings.
The statement further accuses Thapa of running an illegal pharmacy in the village, playing with the lives of patients and embezzling the budget allocated in fiscal year 2006-07 for construction of a suspension bridge which is yet to start. The party said the 'first phase of action' was based on people's complaints and warned of more if the ward member does not take remedial steps.
On Friday, NCP aligned students of ANNISU Revolutionary smeared black soot on Indreni Primary School's teacher Ram Krishna Shrestha at Dupcheshwor rural municipality – 1 for failing to attend classes regularly.
