Leader Nepal meets Sri Lankan leaders

Kathmandu–Nepal Communist Party (NCP)'s senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who is presently on a visit to Sri Lanka held meetings with the top leaders there.

Earlier, he reached Sri Lanka to attend a special programme organised by the Communist Party of Sri Lanka as a chief guest.

On Thursday, he had a meeting with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe; Speaker Karu Jayasuriya , former President Mahindra Rajapaksa and Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Raja Collure, according to CPN's leader Bishnu Rijal.

The meeting focused on the discussions on Nepal-Sri Lanka friendly relations, underlining the need for extending the people's relation between Nepal, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, and Sri Lanka, the Buddhist nation.

The leaders of both countries which went through a long armed conflict shared experiences undergone by the respective nations in course of finding a solution to such condition.

Nepali Ambassador for Sri Lanka, Dr Bishwambhar Pyakurel, was also present on the occasion. Leader Nepal who left for Sri Lanka on July 8 is rescheduled to return home on July 14.
