Krishna Prasad Yadav elected NC’s Province 2 President

KATHMANDU, December 24: Krishna Prasad Yadav has been elected in the post of President of Nepali Congress for Province 2.

Yadav, who is considered close to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, defeated his nearest contender Ram Saroj Yadav, Minister for Physical Development of the Province by 141 votes.

Newly elected Yadav secured as many as 996 votes while Minister Yadav garnered 855 votes. Minister Yadav suffered defeat despite the support from Bimalendra Nidhi and Shekar Koirala.

The voting for the post was conducted on Thursday.

As many as 1,881 votes were casted. Of them, 30 votes have been declared invalid, according to the Provincial Election Committee of the party.
