CPN Approves 1,499-Member Koshi Province Committee

Biratnagar. A jumbo Koshi Province committee of 1,499 members of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has been approved. The province's unity meeting held in Biratnagar today approved the provincial committee with the said number of members. CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda administered the oath of office and secrecy to all nominated members of the committee.

The number was approved by the delegates present at the meeting by clapping after CPN Province Committee Chairman Harkabahadur Nemwang proposed it. Chairman Nemwang had presented eight agendas for discussion and approval at the meeting.

These include the formation of a provincial secretariat committee to intensify organization building and integration, conducting unity gatherings and meetings of district committees, managing people-related organizations and fronts, and determining departments and areas of work.

Similarly, agendas include adjusting the work areas and responsibilities of central members, provincial members, and other committee members, and launching a special campaign for party integration and organizational expansion. Chairman Nemwang stated that the Friday meeting passed a proposal prepared by Province Co-in-charge Parshuram Basnet, which includes contemporary issues of Koshi Province.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Nemwang said that it is necessary to conclude the work of party integration and organizational adjustment at the local level and ward level as soon as possible, as these have been pending for a long time. He also said that the confusion and despair seen among the cadres must be ended to counter the increasing activities of new political forces and the interference of other parties.
