Allu Arjun Ordered to Appear in Court Over 'Pushpa 2' Show Stampede

Hyderabad. Telugu film star Allu Arjun has fallen into legal trouble. A Nampally court in Hyderabad has ordered him to appear in person in court.

This legal action is linked to the stampede during a special show of his blockbuster film 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' in December 2024, in which a woman lost her life.

The police have filed a detailed chargesheet in court regarding this incident. According to an ANI report, a total of 23 people have been named as accused in the chargesheet filed by the police. Individuals associated with the management of Sandhya Theatre have been listed as accused numbers 1 to 10, while actor Allu Arjun has been listed as accused number 11.

The court has directed actor Arjun, along with 19 other accused, to appear in court on June 22 to hear the case concerning negligence in crowd management and failure of security arrangements.

Accident Occurred in December 2024

This entire incident occurred on December 4, 2024. At that time, a special show was organized at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre to mark the release of the film 'Pushpa 2'. During the show, more people than the capacity of the theatre premises gathered.

When the situation became uncontrollable, a large stampede occurred. In the accident, a woman named Revathi died, and her son was seriously injured. Following this incident, a major debate began in the film industry regarding crowd control at such events.

According to police investigation, Allu Arjun himself had reached the theatre on the day of the incident. A large crowd of fans rushed towards the theatre entrance to see him, causing a sudden surge in pressure and a complete failure of security arrangements. The chargesheet considers the negligence of theatre officials, security guards, and event management personnel as the main cause of the accident. However, after the incident, Allu Arjun contacted the victim's family and provided financial and medical assistance for the injured child's treatment.

Earlier, Allu Arjun was arrested by the police in connection with the stampede case on December 13. After his arrest, he was produced before a local court, from where he was sent to 14 days of judicial custody.

Subsequently, Allu Arjun appealed to the Telangana High Court for interim bail. On the evening of the same day, he was granted interim bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000. During the legal process, he was taken to Chanchalguda Central Jail and was released from jail the next morning, Saturday, at 6:30 AM. During this period, Allu Arjun remained in police custody for approximately 18 hours.

After his release from jail, Allu Arjun stated in a press conference that it was an unfortunate accident. He said, 'This was all an accident. I had gone to the cinema hall with my family to watch the film. This incident happened outside, and I have no direct involvement in it. I stand with the victim's family and will help them in any way possible.'
