Jay Trophy: Police beats Bagmati, sets up final clash with Army
Janakpur, January 12 — Nepal Police Club defeated Bagmati Province in a thrilling encounter in the 6th match of the Jay Trophy Men's Elite Cup, held in Janakpur from January 11-12.
With the victory, Police have secured a spot in the final, where they will face Tribhuwan Army Club.
Bagmati, after winning the toss and opting to bat, struggled in their first innings, posting just 112 runs.
Ishan Pandey top-scored with 71, while the rest of the batting lineup fell apart against a well-organized Police Club attack.
Lalit Rajbanshi (4/27) and Kushal Bhurtel (2/31) were the standout bowlers for Police Club, with Rajbanshi taking key wickets to keep Bagmati under control.
In reply, Police Club had a solid start, posting 215 all out.
Amit Shrestha (79) and Arjun Saud (77) anchored the innings with gritty knocks, but the rest of the batting struggled against the disciplined bowling attack of Bagmati.
Sandeep Lamichhane (4/65) and Pratis GC (2/40) led the way with the ball for Bagmati, with Lamichhane taking crucial wickets to halt Police Club’s progress.
Chasing a target of 116 in the second innings, Police Club made light work of the task. Amit Shrestha scored 56 off 45 deliveries. Kushal Bhurtel added 32 runs and Arjun Saud remained not out on 20.
