Saud criticizes government for bringing ordinances bypassing Parliament
Butwal, January 12 — NP Saud, a central committee member of the Nepali Congress and a member of the House of Representatives, expressed that it is not positive for a two-thirds majority government to make laws through ordinances.
He said that even with a majority, using ordinances to make laws while attempting to hold the parliament hostage has raised widespread questions. He warned that the government should immediately convene parliament and bring bills through it.
Speaking in a press conference organized by the Reporters' Club Nepal, Lumbini Province Office in Butwal, Saud asserted that bypassing parliament through ordinances will not bring stability.
He argued that while some of the matters brought through ordinances could have support from opposition parties, raising questions when not taken to parliament is problematic.
Saud further stated, "The government is making various laws through ordinances while holding parliament hostage for a long time, which is unconstitutional. There is widespread opposition to this. It is not sending a good message."
He also mentioned that the Nepali Congress had supported the government under the leadership of KP Sharma Oli but expressed dissatisfaction with the government's failure to carry out the agreed activities.
He noted complaints regarding the failure to implement the minimum common agreement between the two parties and suggested full implementation.
