Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup: Army and Bagmati end in a draw

Janakpur, January 9 — The match of the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup between Tribhuwan Army Club and Bagmati Province ended in a thrilling draw after two days of intense cricketing action.

In their first innings, Tribhuwan Army Club posted a challenging total of 276/5, thanks to solid contributions from Imran Sheikh (72) and Basir Ahamad (53*).

Despite tight bowling from Bagmati Province, especially from Bipin Acharya who took 3 wickets, Army Club managed to build a substantial total.

In reply, Bagmati Province struggled but managed to reach 200/9d in 50 overs. Nandan Yadav was the top scorer with 51, while Sompal Kami and Shahab Alam claimed 2 wickets each for the Army Club.

Despite solid contributions from the middle order, Bagmati’s efforts fell short in securing a substantial lead.

In their second innings, Tribhuwan Army Club declared at 127/8d after 28.2 overs, leaving Bagmati a target of 204 runs to win.

However, Bagmati Province was unable to chase down the target, finishing at 80/5 after 28.4 overs.

Key performances came from Shubh Kansakar (33) and Rit Gautam (16), but the Army’s bowlers, led by Pawan Karki and Aakash Chand, kept the chase under control.

With Bagmati Province still requiring 124 runs with 5 wickets in hand, the match was called a draw, as no team could claim victory by the end of Day 2.
