55,000 NPR for South Korea flights via EPS

Kathmandu, January 2 — Nepali workers heading to South Korea for foreign employment through the Employment Permit System (EPS) will now pay nearly 55,000 NPR for their flight tickets.

The EPS Korea branch, under the Department of Foreign Employment, has approved the proposal from Universal Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd. for the air tickets.

With the approval, the company will now provide flight tickets for 54,991 NPR, including VAT. The initial proposal from the company was for 48,645 NPR excluding VAT.

Previously, workers were required to pay up to 123,000 NPR for their tickets. However, with the new agreement with the company, the EPS Korea branch will now offer the tickets at the reduced price.

The workers will now be flown to Korea with a transit stop, unlike the previous direct flights.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, South Korea had imposed a condition to only allow Nepali workers via direct flights. This led to workers paying up to 150,000 NPR for airfares.

Later, with the government’s efforts, the fare was reduced to 123,000 NPR.

For the past few years, Universal Tours and Travels has been handling the air tickets for EPS Korea.

The EPS Korea branch had called for tenders for the air tickets on 13th Kartik.
