RSP leader Mohan Thapa arrested in USA

Kathmandu, March 2 — Mohan Thapa, a central committee member of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been confirmed to have been arrested in the United States.
RSP leader Manish Jha confirmed that Thapa is currently in the custody of US immigration authorities.
Jha stated, "It has come to our knowledge that Mohan Thapa, a central committee member of RSP, is currently in the custody of US immigration."
He further mentioned that Thapa had earlier submitted a request to step down temporarily from his position within the party's central committee due to unresolved legal issues and pending personal legal procedures.
Sources have revealed that Thapa was detained last week at the Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania.
He had arrived in the US just days before his arrest, traveling through Qatar.
Thapa is reportedly being held in federal custody in Philadelphia.
Thapa, a green card holder in the US, has had legal issues in the past, including a case involving the misuse of a driver's license, which resulted in jail time.
Notably, Thapa has been active in RSP affairs, especially during the time when party president Rabi Lamichhane was imprisoned.
Thapa had worked actively to secure Lamichhane's release on bail.
