Jhalanath Khanal labels the 'Socialist Front' effort as premature
Kathmandu, December 15 — Senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Jhalanath Khanal, has called the effort to unite the divided communist factions under the 'Socialist Front' a premature attempt.
In the month of July in 2023, leaders including CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Unified Socialist’s Madhav Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party’s Upendra Yadav, and NCP's Biplav had formed the 'Socialist Front'.
Former Prime Minister Khanal strongly opposed the formation of the front during the party’s standing committee meeting, where he presented his proposal titled '10th General Convention and Our Immediate Action Plan'.
He remarked, "The attempt to unite the divided left-wing factions was nothing but a premature exercise."
Khanal further emphasized that if a 'Socialist Front' is to be formed, agreement on the program of scientific socialism must come first.
