Thugs targeting women out for morning walks to loot gold chains arrested
KATHMANDU, July 9: The police have arrested 5 people from a group involved in the serial robbery of gold chains by targeting women going out for a morning walk in the capital. The team of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested 5 people from the group involved in the robberies and made them public on Sunday.
The arrested are Rabin Damai of Ramechhap, Rabi Bishwakarma of Sunsari, Umesh Chhetri of Kavre, Rahul Majhi of Dhankuta and an Indian citizen named Shrikant Maiti.
Chief Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office Manoj KC informed that they have performed robberies at various places in the valley such as Janasewa Marga in New Road, Bagalamukhi Temple in Chakrapath, Kapurdhara in Samakhusi, near Grandi of Tokha, Budhha Chowk in Nagarjun, and near the Bishnumati Bridge also in Tokha.
It has been known that the robberies were done between 5 to 6 am, and the two, namely Rabin Damai and Rabi Bishwakarma targeted women and used a motorbike to rob the gold jeweleries.
The team of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested the five thugs from various places in Kathmandu.
