Partial impact of Biplav-led Group's shutdown in Valley

Kathmandu–The general shutdown or banda called by the Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav'-led Group has its partial impact in the central capital Kathmandu.

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, public vehicles are not plying as usual and educational institutions are closed due to the shutdown.

However, the impact of shutdown is relatively more outside the Kathmandu Valley. As Nepal Police spokesperson Bishwaraj Pokharel said, incidents of arson on motor vehicles have been reported from various districts and five people have been taken under control from different areas. Fake bombs have been found planted to terrorise the normal life.

The incidences of arson on vehicles have been reported in Ramechhap, Hetauda, Surkeht and Nawalpur. Security has been tightened throughout the country to avoid any untoward incident during the banda. Escorting services are available for major highway traffic.

The Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu spokesperson Shyamlal Gyawali informed that traffic en route to outside the Valley and vice-versa has come to a halt owing to the banda.

All the three districts in the Valley witnessed the partial impact of banda. It may be noted that four people had died and seven others were injured in three explosions at Ghattekulo, Sukedhara, and Thankot on Sunday evening, on the eve of shutdown.

The injured are being treated at various hospitals. Following the three blasts, seven people were held on Sunday evening.

As police said, most people killed and injured in the incidents are found to be associated with the ' Biplav-led' Group.
