Speaker Mahara pledges to initiate in Civil Criminal Code amendment

Kathmandu– Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara today pledged to initiate in getting the Civil Criminal Code, 2074 amended.
He made this commitment in response to a demand put forward by the delegation from the Federation of Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs to amend clause 250 of the Code at the earliest.
The delegation, which met Speaker Mahara today, stated that the Code that came into effect lately has jeopardised the whole construction sector. The Federation has protested against the Code seizing the collateral amount if a project failed to follow the agreement struck, and be complete on agreed time or if there lacks quality work.
They have also protested against the confiscation of the 10 percent of agreement amount as liquidity damage. Likewise, they have opposed to the provision of blacklisting a project flouting set construction rules for a period of one to three years. The delegation was led by the Federation President Rabi Singh.
