Service with a smile effective-President
Kathmandu - President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed on the need for service with a smile from health workers, which she said cures the visiting patient by fifty per cent.
"I heard that the service with a smile campaign by the police has changed the attitude of the general public towards them, and hence it requires a similar caring and smiling service from the health workers too," she said while speaking at an event to mark the 58th anniversary of the Paropakar Maternity hospital here today.
Lauding the maternity and child health services at the hospital, she stressed on the need to expand the service to the district and local level.
Health Secretary Dr Kiran Regmi and the Hospital Director Dr Amir Babu Shrestha among other speakers shed light on the services provided and the challenges faced by the hospital.
Founded on the day of Krishnastami in 2016 B.S., the hospital that began with a 40-bed capacity is now a 350-bed hospital. The capacity that had reached 415 decreased following the damage the hospital incurred in the 2015 earthquake.
A total of 17,927 women had given birth at the hospital in the previous 12 months. Of them, 5,187 had to undergo the c-section.
