Death toll climbs to five in Dailekh jeep accident

Dullu –The death toll in the jeep accident occurred near Pipal Chautara, Dhamigaun of Thatikandh rural municipality in Dailekh district today has reached to five. 


Eight people were traveling by the ill-fated jeep (Bhe 1 Cha 2207) that was going to Bahankot of Thatikandh from Surkhet. Three people were killed on the spot while two others died while being taken to Surkhet for treatment. 


Those killed on the spot are Rajendra Bahadur Shahi, 47, the jeep driver Ramesh Shahi and Nirmal Bam, 30, of the same rural municipality. Rajendra is the ward president of the Nepali Congress party. 


Those who died on the way to Surkhet have been identified as Ratna Shahi and Samsher Bom, 28, of Thatikandh rural municipality. Yiddha Suchi, 30, Dilip Shahi and Manish Raskoti,28, are seriously injured in the mishap. They have been taken to Surkhet for treatment. 


The jeep veered off the road and fell some 300 metres down, police said.
