Each family of deceased to be provided Rs 200,000
Kathmandu - The emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar, on Sunday decided to provide Rs 200,000 to each family of those killed in the floods in various parts of the country.
Emerging from the meeting, Minister for Information and Communications, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, shared that the meeting also decided to make the relief and rescue operations more effective and smooth and the members of the Council would donate their one month's salary to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
According to Minister Basnet, decision of the meeting includes preparations at war footing level for distribution of food items and healthcare services for the flood-survivors and the assessment of the damages of the physical infrastructures for determining the amount for compensation.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to make on-site visits to Saptari and Mahottari among other flood-hit areas for inspection on Monday, added Minister Basnet.
