President aggrieved over loss of lives in landslide, flood

Kathmandu - President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and damages of properties in the landslides, floods and inundations caused by heavy rainfall in different parts of the country.

The President Bhandari on Sunday said her attention was drawn seriously towards the difficulty in rescue and relief operation caused by the bad weather for flight and the damaged roads obstructing transportation.

The Office of the President said the President has made aware all concerned to ensure more preparedness, awareness and vigilance to cope with the disaster in view of the geographical sensitivity coupled with climate change and environmental degradation.

She also said proper monitoring in the relief distribution was imperative.

The President appealed to all to join hands for rescue, relief distribution and safe shelters to the flood victims.

She expressed tribute to those killed in the disaster and extended condolences to victim families.
