Weather Forecast: Mixed Influence of Western, Local, and Monsoon Winds Across Nepal

Kathmandu. Currently, a mixed influence of western, local, and monsoon winds is observed in Nepal. 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon wind's effect is active in some parts of the Koshi Province, while western and local winds are affecting other parts of the country.

Currently, there is generally cloudy weather in some parts of the Koshi Province and in the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country. There is partial cloudiness in the Terai regions of the Madhesh and Bagmati Provinces, while the weather is mainly clear in the Terai regions of the Lumbini and Karnali Provinces. The Department has stated that light rain is currently occurring in a few places in the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

On Monday afternoon and night, there will be general cloudiness in the Himalayan and hilly areas of the country, as well as in the Terai region of the Koshi Province. There is a possibility of partial cloudiness in the Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces. The weather is expected to remain mainly clear in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Similarly, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in some places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of the Koshi Province, and in a few places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of the Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces. In one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, moderate rain or snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected. In the Terai regions, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in a few places in the Koshi Province and in one or two places in the Madhesh Province.

While there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the hilly regions, the Terai regions are expected to be affected by heat. There is a possibility of hot winds, locally known as 'Loo', in some parts of the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Additionally, the Department forecasts that some areas in the Terai regions of the Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces will experience hot days with extreme heat.
