Sadar Zoo in Jawalakhel Closed Indefinitely Due to Bird Flu

Kathmandu. Sadar Zoo located in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur has been closed indefinitely. 

The zoo has been closed from today after bird flu infection was confirmed in the birds kept inside the zoo premises.

The National Nature Conservation Trust, which looks after the management of the zoo, has banned visits keeping in mind the health security of the general public and infection control. The Trust stated, "The zoo has been closed until further notice."

The situation at the zoo has become risky after bird flu was detected in the wild animals inside the zoo. Bird flu is a highly contagious disease that primarily affects birds. It can have serious effects on other rare birds and animals in the zoo, and there is a high risk of transmission to humans. Keeping this risk in mind, the zoo has been sealed for the time being.
