BIMSTEC Fourth Summit today

Kathmandu –The fourth summit conference of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is taking place amidst a special ceremony in the capital this afternoon. 
Prime Minister and BIMSTEC Chair KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the event. 


Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bhutan and Chief Justice, Lyonpo Tshering Wangchuk, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of Myanmar, Win Myint, President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha are attending the Summit. 


All other dignitaries except the Thai Prime Minister have already arrived in Kathmandu for the BIMSTEC Fourth Summit. 
The Summit will conclude on Friday by issuing the Kathmandu Declaration. Sri Lanka will take over the BIMSTEC Chair with the wrapping up of the Fourth Summit.
