Special Court Orders Evidence Collection in Corruption Case Against Former Dhanauji Rural Municipality Chairman Badri Narayan Singh and Others

Kathmandu. The Special Court has ordered to collect evidence in the corruption case against former Dhanauji Rural Municipality Chairman Badri Narayan Singh and 9 others from Dhanusha. The bench of Special Court judges Narayan Prasad Poudel, Hemant Rawal, and Umesh Koirala issued the order to collect evidence.

Singh, along with Vice-Chairman Ramvati Devi Mandal, then Chief Administrative Officer Gaurishankar Mandal, and Sawan Kumar Chaudhary, was charged with corruption along with Construction Pvt. Ltd., the former chairman, vice-chairman, and chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, sub-engineer Chhote Mandal, Naasu Naresh Kumar Mandal, accountant Radheshyam Ray, assistant accountant Binod Kumar Mandal, Ekta Construction, and Indraesh Kumar Singh, the owner of the company, for taking commission by allowing a single construction entrepreneur to fill tenders from three companies in a setting for drain construction and waste management.

In the fiscal year 2077/078, under the title of market drain and waste management, without any decision, market sheds were constructed in a secret manner by allowing a single construction entrepreneur to fill tenders from three construction companies, taking commission, and constructing substandard market sheds with only a one rupee difference without competition in collusion with Ekta Supplies. It is alleged that more payment was made than the work done by preparing measurement books and embezzling budget funds.

The rural municipality had allocated 50 lakh rupees for drain construction and 42 lakh rupees for waste management. The rates submitted by the three companies were the same for all items except for cement and sand.

It was alleged that government property worth 31 lakh 34 thousand rupees was embezzled and damaged by awarding tenders through a setting.
