Government Returns National Investigation Department to Prime Minister's Office

Kathmandu. The government has returned the National Investigation Department (Intelligence) under the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office. The government led by Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balen Shah has returned the department under the Prime Minister's Office as per the Government of Nepal's Rules of Business 2083. The rules were passed by the Council of Ministers meeting held on Wednesday. With the approval of the rules, the Intelligence Department has been placed at number 28 among the 48 areas of work of the Prime Minister's Office published by the government in the gazette. The caretaker government led by Sushila Karki had placed the Intelligence Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs from the Prime Minister's Office. In 2074 BS, the government led by KP Sharma Oli had faced criticism after bringing the National Investigation Department, the Department of Money Laundering, and the Department of Revenue Investigation under the Prime Minister's Office.
