Nepal Ambassador Meets Thai Foreign Ministry Official

Kathmandu. Nepal's Ambassador to Thailand, Dhan Bahadur Oli, held a meeting with the Director General of the South Asia, Middle East and Africa Affairs Department of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Urasa Mongkolnavin, on Thursday.

On the occasion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the close and friendly relations between Nepal and Thailand and discussed further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest including trade, investment, tourism, culture, agriculture, and education, the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok informed.

They also reviewed the implementation status of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) concluded between Nepal and Thailand last year and both sides emphasized the effective implementation of these agreements. Discussions were also held on quickly concluding the proposed bilateral agreements on agricultural cooperation and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

Both sides also exchanged views on holding the next meeting of the Nepal-Thailand Joint Consultative Mechanism in Nepal as soon as possible at a mutually convenient time.

Emphasis was also placed on increasing trade complementarity between Nepal and Thailand, strengthening the value chain between Nepali and Thai products, and adding further value through the integration of goods and services based on Himalayan and marine resources.

Both sides expressed agreement to facilitate the 'visa' process on a reciprocal basis, improve tourism services, and strengthen cooperation in information and intelligence exchange to control human trafficking, money laundering, and cybercrime.

Similarly, both sides expressed commitment to enhancing cooperation in regional and multilateral forums and mutually supporting each other's candidacies in international forums, according to a press release issued by the embassy.
