Niba Rai Named Best Emerging Player at 10th Rara Pokhara Sports Award

Pokhara. Badminton player Niba Rai has been declared the best emerging player of the year at the 10th Rara Pokhara Sports Award. Rai was presented with the award for the best emerging player of the year at a program held in Pokhara on Thursday, organized by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum Gandaki.

Along with Rai, Anushka Adhikari of athletics and Sachin Sunar of taekwondo were nominated for the best player of the year. She was awarded 35 thousand along with the award and certificate.

Niba, 15 years old, residing in Birauta, Pokhara, has established herself as a rising player in the Nepali badminton field. Niba started playing badminton at the young age of 10.

Within 9/10 months of training, she began her winning journey from the Under-11 National Championship.

Since then, she has also won the championship title in Under-13 and Under-14. Currently, she is the Nepal Champion in Under-15 and is also among the top five in the country in the Under-19 age group.
