Rain Expected in Most Cities Today; Temperature Variations Noted

Kathmandu. Today, Thursday, there is a possibility of rain in most of the cities of the country. According to the weather forecast, the weather in almost all major cities will change this afternoon with thunderstorms and lightning and rain.

This afternoon, Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa, Simara, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan and Janakpur will experience light rain with thunderstorms and lightning. Similarly, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Jomsom, Jiri and Taplejung will experience moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning this afternoon. 

The possibility of rain this afternoon is highest in Pokhara, Okhaldhunga and Taplejung at 60 percent. In Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj, the possibility of rain is lowest at only 10 percent, while in Kathmandu, the possibility is 40 percent.
Regarding temperature, the maximum temperature this afternoon is estimated to reach up to 36 to 38 degrees Celsius in Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj. The maximum temperature in Dipayal, Bhairahawa and Simara will also remain above 35 degrees.

Similarly, the lowest maximum temperature will be in Jomsom at 19 to 21 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu is forecast to be between 25 to 27 degrees Celsius today.

The weather tonight will vary slightly by city. In Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla and Ghorahi, the possibility of rain tonight is zero percent and there will only be partly cloudy skies. However, in Pokhara, Kathmandu and Taplejung, there will be moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning even at night.

In other remaining cities, Bhairahawa, Simara, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Jomsom, Dharan, Janakpur and Jiri, there is a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms and lightning at night. At night, the possibility of rain in Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta and Taplejung is 40 percent.

The minimum temperature at night will drop to the lowest in Jumla at 7 to 9 degrees Celsius, while in Jomsom and Jiri it will be between 9 to 11 degrees Celsius. The highest minimum temperature at night is forecast to be between 25 to 27 degrees Celsius in Nepalgunj and between 24 to 26 degrees Celsius in Biratnagar. The minimum temperature in Kathmandu will be between 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
