37 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Prithvi Highway

Dhading. Thirty-seven passengers were injured when three vehicles collided with each other late last night in Baireni, Galchhi Rural Municipality-6, Dhading, along the Prithvi Highway. 

According to the District Police Office, Dhading, at around 11:30 PM, a truck numbered Ba 03-001-006 Kha 2056, which was stopped on the road, was hit from behind by a bus numbered Ba 01-006 Kha 7499 traveling in the same direction towards Chitwan from Kathmandu. Immediately after, another bus, Ba 01-006 Kha 6716, traveling from Kathmandu to Birgunj, also hit the said bus from behind, causing the accident.

The injured 37 people were immediately rescued with the help of the Area Police Office, Gajuri, Baireni Police Post, and locals. The injured were given initial treatment at the local Baireni Hospital and Smarika Medical Hall.

According to the police, 3 injured have been discharged after general treatment, while the remaining 34 have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment. Among them, 28 are undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital Maharajgunj, while 6 have been referred to other hospitals. A total of 68 passengers were traveling in the three vehicles.

The drivers of all three vehicles involved in the accident have been taken into custody by the Area Police Office, Gajuri. The drivers taken into custody are 32-year-old Shiva Thapa from Kushma, Parbat, 45-year-old Purushottam Timilsina Sharma from Lalitpur, and the truck driver 28-year-old Pramod Chaudhary from Gajura, Rautahat.
