Government to Promote Religious Sites via Spiritual Diplomacy

Kathmandu, April 29: The government is to promote Pashupatinath, Lumbini, Janakpurdham, and Muktinath areas through spiritual pilgrimage diplomacy.

The policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, presented by President Ramchandra Paudel at the joint session of parliament on Monday, mentions that Nepal's main religious areas will be promoted through pilgrimage diplomacy.

The policy and program has also given priority to developing religious, cultural, health, study, film, spiritual, and leisure tourism as emerging destinations.

Employment will be promoted to increase the income of marginalized and Dalit communities by connecting community-operated homestays, local arts, culture, and traditions with tourism.

The policy and program mentions that at least five thousand new homestays will be linked with booking platforms under the 'Nepal Homestay' branding by implementing the concept of living museums.
