Government Declares Decade as 'Employment Promotion Decade'

Kathmandu. The government has announced to celebrate the next decade (from FY 2083-84 to 2093-94 BS) as 'Employment Promotion Decade'.

Presenting the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, President Ramchandra Paudel stated that this announcement has been made to transform foreign employment from a compulsion to an option. The government's goal is to create sufficient employment opportunities within the country and connect youth power to national development.

According to President Paudel, a 'Remittance Investment Matching Fund' will be established to transform remittances received from foreign employment from consumption to productive investment. Through this fund, the government plans to mobilize the earnings of Nepalis working abroad for the country's economic development and infrastructure construction.

Similarly, the policy and program mention that rescue and welfare programs for the families of workers who died or became disabled during foreign employment will be further strengthened.

The government has also expressed its commitment to transform the industrial sector from informal to formal economy and protect workers' rights. President Paudel stated that the government will give special emphasis to improving the industrial environment, organizing the labor market, and ensuring social security for workers.
