211 Nepalis in Cambodia Submit Details to Embassy

Kathmandu. As per the call for data collection by the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, 211 Nepalis currently in Cambodia have filled out the online form so far. Among them, 9 are women.

According to the data received, these Nepalis reached Cambodia during the period of May 2022 to May 2026. The embassy has informed that the documents for individuals requiring travel documents among those who provided details have been prepared and sent to Cambodia.

Among the Nepalis in Cambodia, 27 are currently imprisoned in various prisons there for various charges. The embassy has alerted the concerned parties that a lawyer who knows the local language may be needed during the remand process.

Similarly, information has been received that 25 Nepalis are currently in the process of returning to Nepal from Cambodia. To facilitate the journey, the embassy has advised purchasing tickets with only connecting flights. The embassy stated that the journey could be difficult due to the need for transit country visas and the hassle of re-checking luggage if there are no connecting flights.

Details have been received by the embassy that Nepalis who reached Cambodia paid between 2 to 8 lakh rupees to various individuals during their journey. The embassy has requested individuals who have been defrauded in this manner to file a complaint at the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau in Babar Mahal, Kathmandu, immediately upon returning to Nepal.

The embassy has mentioned that this step is necessary to bring the culprits to legal action and to proceed with the process of recovering the money paid.
