Government Appoints Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agarwal as Prime Minister Balendra Shah's Honorary Health Advisor

Kathmandu. The government has appointed senior physician and medical educationist Prof. Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agarwal as the honorary health advisor to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

The Council of Ministers, in its meeting held yesterday, decided to appoint Dr. Agarwal to the post. Dr. Agarwal, who has also served as the former Dean of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) at Tribhuvan University, will provide necessary consultation to the Prime Minister on the country's health policy, public health challenges, and medical education reform.

Informing about the appointment, Prime Minister's Press and Research Expert Deepa Dahal said, 'We believe that the appointment of Prof. Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agarwal, an experienced and expert personality in the health sector, will provide significant technical support and suggestions to the Prime Minister for the reform of the country's health policy and services. He, having led a prestigious institution like IOM, will make his expertise and time available to the state on an honorary basis.'

In the context of Prime Minister Shah keeping public health as a main priority of his tenure, Dr. Agarwal's appointment is seen as meaningful. Dr. Agarwal will provide his services merely as an expert without receiving any salary or financial benefits from the state.
