Three Arrested for Foreign Employment Fraud, One Fugitive Apprehended

Kathmandu. A team from Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, has arrested three people for defrauding lakhs of rupees by luring them with foreign employment and one woman who was absconding after being sentenced by the court. The police have apprehended three individuals from various locations who absconded after collecting money by offering attractive salaries and promising to send them to different countries.

Those arrested include Shakti Rai, 31, from Solukhumbu, residing in Budhanilkantha; Bimla Dong, 39, from Sindhupalchok, residing in Budhanilkantha; and Roshan Tamang, 31, from Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu. Shakti defrauded one victim of Rs 195,000 under the pretext of sending them to New Zealand.

Similarly, Bimla took Rs 1,360,000 from two individuals promising to send them to Azerbaijan, and Roshan took Rs 2,400,000 from one person by luring them with a promise to send them to Canada, and then became out of contact. Based on the complaints of the victims, the police took Shakti under control from Budhanilkantha, Bimla from Gwarko, and Roshan from Gokarneshwor. They have been sent to the Foreign Employment Department, Tahachal, for further investigation and action.

Likewise, Roshana Chapagain, 46, from Dhading Dhunibesi, residing in Bhaktapur Komerotar, who was convicted and absconding in a foreign employment fraud case, has also been arrested. The Foreign Employment Tribunal's decision on Jestha 30, 2081, sentenced her to one and a half years in prison and a fine of Rs 150,000. Roshana, who was absconding after the verdict, was apprehended by the police from Komerotar itself and handed over to the Kathmandu District Court for serving her sentence.
