Complex Neurosurgery Successfully Performed at Karnali Health Sciences Institute

Jumla. Complex brain nerve surgery (neurosurgery) has been performed at Karnali Health Sciences Institute.

The neurosurgery on Gor Bahadur Bohora of Chhumgaun, Patarasi Rural Municipality-3, was successful, led by a team of doctors including senior neurosurgeon Nilamkumar Khadka from the National Medical Sciences Institute (NAMS), National Trauma Center.

He was brought to the institute for treatment after sustaining a serious head injury after falling from his own house roof on April 18. Due to a shortage of doctors at the institute, Bohora was even prepared to be referred to another well-equipped hospital.

According to information provided by Dr Nirmal Thapa working at the institute, the patient's relatives requested Dr Khadka, who was in the district, to perform the surgery.

Dr Khadka was in Depalgaun, Gauthichaur Rural Municipality-5, for a yoga camp. Patient's relatives Gorkabahadur Rawat informed that Dr Khadka agreed to perform the surgery with humanitarian feelings, and the surgery was conducted on Sunday evening. 

The institute stated that the surgical team included Dr Thapa and Dr Ramesh Kafle, who work at the institute, along with Dr Khadka.

The surgery was performed free of charge, saving both money and time. The patient's relatives expressed special thanks to Dr Khadka.

In recent days, postgraduate medical education has also started at the institute. Chief Administrative Officer of the institute Amritbahadur Bhandari informed that efforts are underway to make the institute excellent in medical education and treatment.
