Iranian Navy Blocks US Warships in Strait of Hormuz, Missile Claims Made

Tehran. The Iranian Navy has prevented American Zionist warships from entering the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iranian state television, these warships were prevented from entering the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

Iranian news agency Fars has claimed that two missiles were fired at a US warship after it ignored warnings near Jaask Island. International news agency Reuters, however, stated that these claims could not be independently confirmed.

There has been no immediate reaction from the US side regarding the incident. Earlier on Monday, Iran had warned the US military not to enter the strategic waterway.

US President Donald Trump had said that the US plans to safely extricate ships stranded in the Gulf region. This plan is intended to assist ships and their crews that have been stranded for two months due to the war between the US-Israel and Iran.

Trump had said via social media Truth Social that the US would help ships from those countries to resume their commercial activities by guiding them safely. However, he did not provide details of the plan.

In response, Iran's Joint Command has directed all commercial ships and oil tankers not to undertake any activities without military coordination. Command Chief Ali Abdollahi said that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is in Iran's hands and the safe passage of ships is possible only with coordination with the Iranian armed forces.

Iran has warned that any foreign armed forces, especially the US military, attempting to enter the area will be attacked. Since the start of the war, Iran has been blocking the movement of almost all ships except its own, affecting about 20 percent of the world's oil and gas supply. As a result, oil prices have reportedly increased by more than 50 percent.

The US military's Central Command (Centcom) has stated that it will deploy 15,000 soldiers, more than 100 air and sea assets, warships, and drones to assist in the rescue operation. Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said that this operation will play an important role in regional security and the global economy.
