Gagan Thapa: Free Press is Foundation of Democracy

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said that the independent and fearless press is the foundation of democracy. He said this while wishing for World Press Freedom Day. He believes that in the changing times, the work of collecting information and seeking truth is becoming challenging. He said, 'Hearty respect to the journalist friends who stand on the side of truth amidst the insecurity and pressure seen in some situations.' In the goodwill message, Thapa said, 'Press freedom is not against any person or institution, it is for the protection of the citizen's right to know. It is the responsibility of all of us to create an environment where no one has to fear for writing the truth.'
