President Issues Ordinance Leading to Dismissal of 1,594 Officials

Kathmandu. With the issuance of the 'Special Arrangement Ordinance Regarding Dismissal of Public Office Bearers, 2083' by President Ram Chandra Paudel, the positions of office bearers in administrative and social sectors will become vacant. This ordinance, brought by the government led by Prime Minister Balen Shah with the aim of introducing new working styles in bodies under various ministries, will result in the dismissal of four office bearers appointed under the Nepal Administrative Staff College Act, 2039, and one appointed under the Local Development Training Academy Act, 2049. Similarly, the positions of 10 office bearers appointed under the Social Welfare Act, 2049, active in the field of social service and regulation, and 14 appointed under the Nepal Engineering Council Act, 2055, will also be vacated en masse. Accordingly, the ordinance has also impacted the fields of employment and social security. Ten office bearers appointed under the Foreign Employment Act, 2064, and three appointed under the Nepal Trust Act, 2064, will be dismissed. Furthermore, the positions of 5 office bearers from the Commission for Investigation of Enforced Disappearances and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, linked to the country's transitional justice, will also become vacant. Office bearers working in the fields of labor and social security have also been affected by this decision. The positions of 10 appointed under the Labor Act, 2074, and 7 appointed under the Contribution-Based Social Security Act, 2074, will be lost. Additionally, 4 appointed under the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, 2074, and 17 appointed under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2074, are also on the list of those to be dismissed. The positions of 4 appointed under the Land Use Act, 2076, and 3 appointed under the Radioactive Materials (Use and Regulation) Act, 2077, will become vacant. A total of 27 office bearers appointed under the National Sports Development Act, 2077, will also be dismissed. Through the ordinance, a total of 1,594 office bearers will be dismissed at once.
