CPN (UML) Youth Leaders Hold Renaissance Gathering in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Some youth leaders including central members of CPN (UML) have held a renaissance gathering in Kathmandu. The gathering, held on Saturday at Minbhawan, was attended by youth including central members Jhapta Rawal, Naresh Rokaya, and Samik Badal. The gathering, which lasted for four hours, discussed the future of CPN UML and the role youth should play, concluding that the defeat in the last election was primarily due to the leadership's weakness. The gathering also decided to promote party renaissance and generational transition in all seven provinces. Former Central Member of CPN UML Nabina Lama said that the transformation and generational transition of CPN UML is imperative and that the youth will play a role in it. She also stated that a decision has been made to conduct a nationwide debate on the demand for a special general convention for the reorganization of CPN UML. Earlier, youth had made public a 15-point proposal for the generational transition, transformation, and leadership transition of CPN UML. Similarly, most of the leaders who expressed their views at the gathering were of the opinion that KP Sharma Oli should be removed from the post of party chairman. It is said that 130 people including former central members Nabina Lama, Ramesh Poudel, former Chairman of All Nepal National Free Student Union Sujan Kadariya, Chairman of Intellectual Council Gajendra Thapaliya, Deputy General Secretary of Youth Association Upendra Shahi, Deputy General Secretary of All Nepal National Free Student Union Kamal Joshi, Kalpana Waiba, and Punnya Dhakal participated in the gathering. Earlier, youth had also collected signatures demanding a special general convention in CPN UML.
