Gumba and Temple Demolished in Kathmandu on Buddha Jayanti

Kathmandu. On the day of Buddha Jayanti, a Gumba and a temple located inside the Sukumbasi settlement in Balkhu, Kathmandu, were demolished by a bulldozer. The Sanghe Chhailing Gumba, registered on Kartik 13, 2078, was demolished on Friday, Baishakh 18, Baishakh Shukla Purnima. Locals stated that they had requested not to demolish it on Buddha Jayanti at least. However, both the Gumba and the temple were demolished in the process of removing structures built by encroaching on public land. Before the Kathmandu Metropolitan City drove the bulldozer, the Buddha statue and other important materials were removed from there.
