Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal Ruled Out for Remainder of Season Due to Injury

Barcelona. Spanish young star Lamine Yamal will miss all of Barcelona's remaining matches this season due to injury. The 18-year-old Yamal suffered a severe hamstring injury in his left leg during last Wednesday's 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo.

Immediately after giving his team the lead via a penalty in the 40th minute of the match, he signaled to the bench and sat down on the pitch. Struggling in pain while clutching his left leg, Yamal was assisted off the field by the medical team.

Barcelona confirmed on Thursday that Yamal will be unable to play for the rest of the season after disclosing the status of his injury. According to the club, while he will take some time to recover, he is expected to be fully fit by the World Cup in June.

The club stated that he is currently undergoing traditional treatment methods. Expressing his heartbreak over being sidelined, Yamal mentioned on social media that he would support his teammates from the sidelines and return stronger next season.

La Liga defending champions Barcelona are currently at the top of the points table. Leading their arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are in second place, by 9 points, Barcelona will face Madrid on their home ground on May 10.

While Yamal's absence is a major headache for Barcelona, the news of his recovery before the World Cup has provided some relief to Spanish football fans. Spain, placed in Group 'H' of the World Cup, is scheduled to begin its campaign against Cape Verde on June 15.
