Nepal Electricity Authority Bharatpur blacklists 277 customers over unpaid bills

Chitwan. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Bharatpur Distribution Center has blacklisted 277 customers in the current fiscal year. The center took this action against customers who failed to pay their electricity bills for an extended period.

Information Officer at the center, Nandaram Bist, stated that a total of Rs 10,417,381 in arrears remains to be collected from these individuals. According to him, legal action has been initiated against those who have long-standing unpaid dues.

To recover outstanding payments, the center has disconnected the power supply of 1,826 customers this fiscal year. He noted that lines were cut for those who had not paid their electricity bills for six months.

The center currently serves 74,876 customers. He informed that a total of Rs 490,410,437 in arrears is yet to be collected from these customers. The office is actively working to recover the dues through measures such as line disconnections and issuing notices to consumers. He said, “Staff are working regularly to ensure the recovery of arrears.”
