Severe Hailstorm Damages 72 Vehicles Along Prithvi Highway in Chitwan

Chitwan. A severe hailstorm that struck various sections of the Prithvi Highway within the Ichhakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan on Sunday evening has caused significant damage. The storm, accompanied by strong winds and heavy hail, damaged 72 vehicles that were either in transit or parked along the highway.

Between approximately 4:55 PM and 5:30 PM, heavy hail in wards 3, 4, and 5 of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality shattered vehicle windshields and caused body damage. According to police, the hail damaged 55 cars, 15 micro-buses, one truck, and one motorcycle.

The District Police Office, Chitwan, reported that despite the extensive damage to vehicles, there were no human casualties. Police stated that while traffic was briefly affected, the road remained open.

Teams from the Mugling Area Police Office, Kurintar Police Station, and the temporary police post in Fisling, including traffic police, were deployed to the scene for security and management.

Personnel led by Police Constable Yubraj Gurung, Assistant Sub-Inspector Chari Bahadur Tamang, and Deputy Sub-Inspector Mohanarayan Raya assisted and facilitated the affected drivers in the area.
