Nepali Congress Leader Mahar Urges Unity Following Supreme Court Verdict

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Nain Singh Mahar has stated that following the Supreme Court's verdict, the responsibility now lies with the leadership to unite the party both emotionally and organizationally.

Mahar, a leader from the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction, made these remarks after the Supreme Court delivered its verdict on the dispute regarding the official status of the Nepali Congress, granting legitimacy to the committee led by Gagan Thapa, which was elected through a special general convention on Friday.

Emphasizing that the Congress is a party that always believes in democratic values and the supremacy of law, he said, 'Congress is a party that respects the law. We must all accept and abide by the decision made by the Supreme Court.'

Indicating that the court's verdict has ended the uncertainty within the party, he stressed that the leadership must now bring all factions together. The legal dispute over the official status of the Congress, which had been ongoing since Poush, has been resolved with this Supreme Court verdict.
