Federal Parliament officials discuss reinstating personal secretaries for lawmakers

Kathmandu. A discussion has been held regarding requesting the government to make provisions allowing members of the Federal Parliament to appoint personal secretaries. 

A meeting attended by Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal, Deputy Speaker Ruby Kumari Thakur, National Assembly Vice-Chair Lila Kumari Bhandari, the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament, the Secretary of the House of Representatives, the Secretary of the National Assembly, and secretaries of the Federal Parliament Secretariat discussed requesting the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to facilitate the appointment of personal secretaries for lawmakers. 

Following the Gen-Z movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, regulations were established to cut expenses by prohibiting the appointment of personal secretaries for parliamentary and government officials. 

Speaker Aryal's secretariat issued a press note stating that the meeting of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Operation and Management Committee discussed requesting provisions to determine the qualifications for and allow the appointment of personal secretaries for Federal Parliament officials and members. 

Federal Parliament Secretariat spokesperson and Joint Secretary Ekram Giri informed Ratopati that the discussion covered the qualifications for lawmakers' personal secretaries as well as necessary coordination efforts.
