Department of Commerce intensifies market monitoring in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has shown increased activity in market monitoring and inspection. The department inspected 54 business establishments and firms in a single day.

To control black marketing, prevent the trade of inedible goods, and protect consumer rights, the department conducted inspections of 54 firms on Monday. The department stated that necessary directives and actions were taken in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and Consumer Protection Regulations, 2076. The department conducted inspections in the areas surrounding the Khasi Bazaar located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14.

The department has issued corrective directives to all firms. It stated that it has been regularly monitoring the market in the presence of consumer rights activists and stakeholders.
