CPN-UML Leader Surendra Pandey Criticizes Ram Bahadur Thapa's Parliamentary Address

Kathmandu. CPN-UML parliamentary party leader and acting chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa's address in parliament on Thursday has drawn criticism from leader Surendra Pandey. 

On social media, he stated: 'Yesterday in parliament, we heard long stories of "conspiracy." The army didn't protect us, bureaucrats didn't listen, technology failed us—blaming everyone else! We are also to blame. Isn't the incompetence of our own government responsible for creating this environment? This "nationalist" politics of claiming to be "under siege" is very old. The only true nationalist line now is Nepal's economic reform; everything else is just individual agendas.'

He further added: 'Let us not hide our weaknesses and push cadres toward extremism by keeping them in the dark. There should be an investigation into 23-24—but we must not ignore the reality that our politics does not align with the aspirations of the people.'

Following the controversy surrounding Thapa's address, a meeting of the CPN-UML secretariat is scheduled for today to discuss the matter.
