Search Continues for Missing 5-Year-Old Boy After Mother and Sister Found Dead in River

Surkhet. The condition of 5-year-old Deepak Kathayat, son of Maya Kathayat of Gurbhakot Municipality-11, Piple, remains unknown. On Chaitra 1, 38-year-old Maya went missing along with her children.

While the bodies of Maya and her 11-year-old daughter Asha have been found, the condition of son Deepak is still unknown. Maya went out of contact from home with her children around 7 AM on Chaitra 1. Maya's husband, Bhupendra Kathayat, reported the incident to the Gumi police post in the evening.

Following this, police and locals were deployed for the search operation. During the search, Maya's bag, shawl, slippers, and mobile phone were found on the bank of the Bheri River, about 3 kilometers from the house.

The police suspected they had gone missing in the Bheri River, and Maya's body was found in the Bheri River at Pataro in Lekbeshi Municipality-3 on the evening of Chaitra 2.

The daughter Asha's body was found the next day (3rd) in the Bheri River at Bhamka in Gurbhakot Municipality-13. However, the condition of the son Deepak is still unknown. 

Although the police and locals continue the search operation, the boy has not been found yet, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohanjung Budhathapa of the District Police Office, Surkhet, told Ratopati.

"The search was conducted everywhere, but the condition remains unknown," he said.
