Body of Man Missing After Drowning in Bagmati River Found After Three Days

Rautahat. The body of a person who went missing after drowning in the Bagmati River at Nunthar in Chandrapur Municipality-1, Rautahat, has been found after three days.

Kami Singh Syangtan, about 40 years old, a resident of Nayabasti in Bagmati Municipality-4, Sarlahi, went missing while fishing in the river around 10:30 AM on Chaitra 7. After his nephew, Kanchha Lama, informed the police about the incident, a team from the Police Post, Paurai, was deployed to start the search operation.

A police team under the command of DSP Rupa Labung from the Area Police Office, Chandrapur, was mobilized for the search. Additionally, a joint team from the Nepal Army in Chaur, the Armed Police Force Sarlahi Camp, and the Area Police Office, Karmaiya, Sarlahi, was also deployed.

Extensive search operations using boats continued in the Bagmati River on Chaitra 8 and 9 following the incident. During this search, the body of Syangtan was found floating in the river about 100 meters north of the Nunthar suspension bridge around 7:30 AM today, according to the Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur.

After the body was found, the joint security team recovered it with the help of a boat. The body has been sent to the Chandranigahapur Government Hospital for post-mortem examination, and the police stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
