Unstable Weather in Kailali Sparks Farmer Anxiety Over Maturing Wheat and Lentil Crops

Kailali. Farmers in Kailali have become worried following recent weather fluctuations that have threatened to destroy their cereal crops. Farmers are concerned that the change in weather will damage wheat, lentil, and other cereal crops that are ready for harvest.

Mahabir Chaudhary of Kailari Rural Municipality-7 in Kailali has cultivated wheat on two bighas of land and lentils on one bigha. His wheat is ready for harvest, while the lentils are partially mature, with some still in the flowering stage.

He stated that the frequent weather changes these days cause anxiety about whether the ready-to-harvest crops will be damaged by rain. "Just a few days ago, strong winds accompanied by rain caused some damage to the wheat and lentils," he said, "It is happening again these days; the inconsistent weather is causing worry in my mind."

Local farmer Nandram Saund said that the fear that the ripe wheat crop will be affected by the alternating sun and cloudy conditions leading to rain has increased. Farmers are worried that the unpredictable timing of rain and strong winds could damage their ripe crops.

The sudden weather changes in Kailali over the past few days have left local farmers anxious. The unstable weather during the wheat harvesting season has made it difficult for farmers to save their crops. Farmers fear that unseasonal rain and strong winds might cause the wheat crops to lodge, break, or spoil in the fields.
