Complex Orthopedic Surgery Service Launched at Baitadi District Hospital

Baitadi. Complex orthopedic surgery service has commenced at the District Hospital Baitadi. The service began following the successful complex orthopedic surgery performed on a man from Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-3, involving both bones below the knee through a small incision.

The surgery, performed using a small incision technique (Closed Reduction and Internal Fixation with IM Nail), was successful. Dr. Arvind Joshi, a physician at the district hospital, informed that this is the first surgery of this type performed here using a small incision. "We have successfully performed complex orthopedic surgery at the hospital. This will bring convenience to the service recipients here," he said.

Dr. Joshi stated that previously, only surgeries involving the insertion of rods were performed for orthopedic issues, but now surgery can be done through a small incision. The surgery was performed by a team including Orthopedic Specialist Dr. Dipendra Bhandari and General Physician Joshi. With the start of complex orthopedic surgery services, patients will now receive this service at the District Hospital at a lower cost.

Harish Pant, the information officer at the District Hospital Baitadi, informed that the hospital currently has 10 medical officers, including four specialists.
